The potential power of artificial intelligence to improve the quality of nursing care is increasing day by day with the development and research of artificial intelligence technologies in health services (1,2). This review aims to examine the nursing approach, which is at the center of science and technology, beyond the traditional definition of nursing. In the world where there is a global nursing crisis, the integration of artificial intelligence applications into nursing science and health services has become a necessity in order to meet the demand for nursing care (3). Nurses, who are at the forefront of the provision of health services, are also a transformative force in the integration of artificial intelligence into health services and nursing science (4). Artificial intelligence develops and shapes nursing care with the use of artificial intelligence in nursing care, such as personalizing treatment plans, medication management, supporting decision-making processes, patient monitoring, risk diagnosis, health assessment, patient classification, nursing care plan development, research and development, improved care delivery and medical records (5,6). Although all of these are promising, the inclusion of AI-based technologies in the nursing discipline has led to discussions on traditional nursing ethics such as the use of patient data, concerns that it will replace nurses, lack of knowledge about AI, and ethics of care (7,8,9). However, the addition of AI to the educational curriculum to eliminate the lack of knowledge about AI and to provide technological skills, and increasing AI literacy among students and educators will eliminate concerns about the use of AI (2,10). Beyond the traditional understanding of nursing, the integration of AI into healthcare services is possible with a nursing understanding that centers on science and technology. In this era of global nursing shortage, AI can be transformed into a force that increases the quality of nursing care.

Yapay zekanın hemşirelik bakımının kalitesini artırmaya yönelik potansiyel gücü, sağlık hizmetlerinde yapay zeka teknolojilerinin geliştirilmesi ve araştırılması ile birlikte gün geçtikçe artmaktadır (1,2). Bu derleme hemşireliğin geleneksel tanımının ötesinde, bilim ve teknolojinin merkezinde olan hemşirelik yaklaşımını incelemeyi amaçlamaktadır. Küresel hemşire krizinin yaşandığı dünyada, hemşirelik bakım talebinin karşılanabilmesi için yapay zeka uygulamalarının hemşirelik bilimine ve sağlık hizmetlerine entegre edilmesi bir gereklilik haline gelmiştir (3). Sağlık hizmetlerinin sunumun da ön saflarda yer alan hemşireler, yapay zekanın sağlık hizmetlerine ve hemşirelik bilimine entegrasyonunda da dönüştürücü bir güçtür (4). Yapay zeka, tedavi planlarını kişiselleştirme, ilaç yönetimi, karar verme süreçlerini destekleme, hasta izleme, risk tanılama, sağlık değerlendirmesi, hasta sınıflandırması, hemşirelik bakım planı geliştirme, araştırma geliştirme, geliştirilmiş bakım sunumu ve tıbbi kayıtlar gibi yapay zekanın hemşirelik bakımında kullanılması ile hemşirelik bakımını geliştirmekte ve şekillendirmektedir (5,6). Tüm bunlar umut verici olmakla birlikte yapay zeka tabanlı teknolojilerin hemşirelik disiplinine dahil edilmesi, hasta verilerinin kullanımı, hemşirelerin yerini alacağı endişesi, yapay zekaya yönelik bilgi eksikliği ve bakım etiği gibi geleneksel hemşirelik etiği üzerine tartışmalara yol açmıştır (7,8,9). Bununla birlikte yapay zekaya yönelik bilgi eksikliklerinin giderilmesi ve teknolojik becerilerin kazandırılması için eğitim müfredatına yapay zekanın eklenmesi, öğrenciler ve eğitimciler tarafından yapay zeka okur yazarlığının artırılması yapay zekanın kullanımına yönelik endişeleri ortadan kaldıracaktır (2,10). Geleneksel hemşirelik anlayışının ötesinde, bilim ve teknolojinin merkezinde olduğu bir hemşirelik anlayışı ile yapay zekanın sağlık hizmetlerine entegrasyonunu mümkündür. Küresel hemşire açığının olduğu bu çağda yapay zeka hemşirelik bakım kalitesini artırıcı bir güce dönüştürülebilir.
