Abstract

In this study, we discuss information about current delivery room approaches that are accepted

worldwide and in our country. The neonatal period, in other words, the neonatal period is a period

that starts after the birth and covers the first 28 days. The newborn, who is subjected to a series of

physiological changes during the transition from intrauterine life to extrauterine life, tries to adapt to the

external environment. To be able to achieve this; It depends on the genetic characteristics, the condition

of the intrauterine environment, the care received during the labor and neonatal period. Most of them get

through this process of attunement without any problems. However, 5% of term newborns and more of

those who are preterm need serious delivery room support to get through this stage. Further resuscitation

attempts are applied to 1% of them for their survival. The clinical appearance and vital signs of the

newborn in the first 24 hours, who perform their first respiration and adapt their circulation to the

outside world, are extremely important. Attention should be paid to the fact that the applications made

during this whole process negatively affect the adaptation process of infants. The attentive care provided

by a well-trained medical team supports the health and harmony of the newborn in the best way. The

Midwifery care given in the delivery room with up-to-date information; It is an important step that has

positive effects on reducing morbidity and mortality rates in newborns, providing the right education

and counseling services to parents, providing better quality health services in a shorter time, increasing

patient satisfaction and reducing the costs spent.
