Pain in the posterior area of the heel may have different causes such as, insertion tendinitis of the achilles tendon, periostitis of calcaneus, bursitis and a Haglund exostosis. Haglund’s syndrome, or Haglund’s disease, is characterized by a painful bony prominence of the dorsal and lateral part of the calcaneus. Clinical symptoms are swelling in the cranial and lateral part of the calcaneus, sometimes pain on pressure on the achilles tendon and pain on active or passive dorsal and plantar flexion movement. A patient is presented here with posterior heel pain and diagnosed as Haglund’s syndrome. Turk J Phys Med Rehab 2008;54:33-5.
