The aim of this research is to reveal the current online exam techniques used in open and distance education and the administrative problems experienced in the implementation of these exams. In this context, a descriptive case study was used as the research design among qualitative approaches. According to the literature, current online exam technologies are online exam platforms, teaching/learning management systems, online proctoring systems, online oral exams, gamified test environments and sign language translation software. In the management of online exams, the steps to be followed according to the managerial processes of planning, organizing, implementing, coordinating and controlling have been revealed. The most frequently encountered challenges in the managerial context are technical problems, cost, authentication, human resources and legislation. It is recommended that decisions on assessment and evaluation should be left to the open and distance education institution itself or should not be evaluated on the same plane as face-to-face education institutions. In the selection of online testing technologies, it is important to take into account the learning objectives and the needs of the learners and to consider the reliability and ease of use of the selected technology.
