Özet

Purpose: The aim of the study was to determine the important risk factors that influence musculoskeletal pain which negatively affects daily living. Material and Methods: An inquiry which consisted of 15 questions was applied to randomly chosen 2852 subjects living in different geographic regions of Turkey. Patients with neurological disorders, cancer, and surgery history were not included in the study. With logistic regression analysis, the risk factors that influence pain were determined. Results: Gender (being male as compared to female), sleep duration, happiness were the most important factors that decreased pain complaint possibility. Career (workers as compared to nonworkers), age, body mass index, and stress were the most important factors that increased pain complaint possibility (p<0.05). With one unit increase in age and body mass index, pain risk increased 3.2% and 4.1% respectively (p<0.05). Conclusion: This pilot study aimed, to determine the risk factors that influence pain with an inquiry using the lowest number of questions and to make possibility estimation. There is need for improving the scope of the inquiry and discussing reliability, validity issues with further studies. As a result of these studies, individuals in the society and the patients in the clinics can be examined with inquiries for the risk factors and individual education of each subject can be possible.
