Abstract

Natural disasters are situations in which many injured people require immediate treatment. These events pose significant risks of infectious diseases to emergency department (ED) personnel, who are often the first point of contact for patients. Infectious diseases can spread through various routes, and during natural disasters, the risk of exposure is heightened due to challenging conditions. This chapter discusses the necessary precautions that ER personnel should take to protect themselves from infectious diseases during and after natural disasters.
