Artificial intelligence (AI), according to an idealized perspective, is an
artificial operating system that exhibits the high cognitive functions or
autonomous behaviors specific to human intelligence. This system has the
abilities of perceiving, learning, connecting multiple concepts, thinking,
expressing ideas (stating), solving problems, communicating and making
decisions. Artificial intelligence aims to perform actions that can be done with
the human brain and skills, such as recognizing, planning, responding, making
decisions, translating between languages and creating desired physical
changes on objects, by machines. Artificial intelligence has many benefits in
dentistry applications such as diagnosing lesions in the jaw bones, diagnosing
alveolar bone loss, diagnosing caries, placing the implant in the most
appropriate area and angle of the jaw bone during implant surgery and
diagnosing and treating implant-supported prostheses during implant-
supported prosthesis construction. Thanks to such benefits, physicians can
provide the most appropriate treatment to their patients in the shortest time
and using the most appropriate materials.
